Free workshops: Is a Co-op Right for You?
We are running two free training days – Here are details of ‘Is a Co-op Right for You?’ – Derry/Londonderry on February 16 and Cookstown on February 23.
The full day Hive workshop, which Co-operative Alternatives is facilitating on behalf of Co-operatives UK, will be a practical exploration of the application of the co-operative enterprise model with plenty of examples, highlighting their distinctive features and advantages relative to other models. The interactive training will:
- Outline the opportunities that a co-operative business model offers community groups and businesses
- Help groups already looking to start a business or organisation to determine whether the co-operative option is right for them
- Help groups identify what further work is needed to do before you are able to register as a co-operative
It will also outline the support available to community groups and businesses interested in becoming a co-operative through online resources and/or one-to-one support.
The Derry event takes place at the offices of Enterprise North West at 12-14 the Diamond and the Cookstown event at the Rural Community Network, 38a Oldtown Street. Both run from 10am to 4pm.
Co-operative Alternatives is the exclusive provider in Northern Ireland of the Hive, a UK cross sectoral programme of support for co-ops and community businesses.
