Co-op Alternatives only NI Organisation asked for Submission by the Oireachtas
The Oireachtas – Courtesy Irish Times
Irish Policy – Co-operative Alternatives was one of the few organisations, and the only one from Northern Ireland, that was asked to prepare a written submission to the Joint Committee of Enterprise, Trade and Employment in the Oireachtas, currently gathering opinions on the 400 page long Co-operative Societies Bill 2022.
We thank Mr Maurice Quinlivan, TD Cathaoirleach of the Committeefor the opportunity and we hope that Co-operative Alternatives’ experience of community shares offers and co-operative development would add to the current debate. Our submission and cover letter can be downloaded here (documents in email).
In addition, for anyone interested to hearing the oral submissions of Dr Bridget Carrol and Dr Olive Byrne from the Centre for Co-operative Studies, University College Cork with ICOS and Community Housing Ireland, can watch the video here
