Co-operatives: Linking Practice and Theory

If you joined us at the SCSI-UKSCS conference back in February, you might remember Ian Adderley sharing a glimpse into his forthcoming book on co-operatives. Well, it’s officially landed—and it’s definitely one to add to your summer reading list.

Co-operatives: Linking Practice and Theory is now available via the UK Society for Co-operative Studies. The book tackles big questions with clarity and insight: What exactly are co-operatives—and what sets them apart?  How do they differ from investor-owned firms or social enterprises? Do co-ops deliver on their promises, and are they inherently political?

This is a compelling read for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and anyone curious about the unique dynamics of co-operative models. I’ve just ordered my copy and can’t wait to dive in.

Have you had a chance to explore it? I’d love to hear your reflections.
