Go social

The theme of this session is co-housing projects.

Wednesday, 14th December 2016

Social Economy Village, Work West, 1B Hannahstown Hill, Belfast, BT17 0XS

Time: 1.30 – 3.30

This workshop will give you the opportunity to virtually meet with successful co-operators who have set up successful projects and learn first-hand from their experience.

This a virtual roundtable connecting Belfast to Leeds and London so that we can hear the experience of Rob and Louis.

Rob Greenland from Leeds Community Homes

“Leeds Community Homes aim is to create housing that’s affordable now, and for future generations too. To provide more affordable homes we’ll work creatively – using innovative techniques to build and finance new homes for Leeds. We have launched a community share offer to raise the necessary capital to fund the purchase of 16 permanently affordable flats on an eco-development in the centre of Leeds. “

Louis Rutherford from Rural Urban Synthesis Society (RUSS)

“RUSS is a volunteer-led Community Land Trust based in south London, founded in 2009 with the mission of creating sustainable neighbourhoods and genuinely affordable homes. RUSS aims to establish a model development process for creating groups of charming, low-energy homes in sustainable neighbourhoods managed by residents, which will remain genuinely affordable for future generations and which can be replicated in Lewisham, London and across the UK.”

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session. Register at https://ssl.belfastcity.gov.uk/GoSocialCOOPERATIVES
